Sunday Morning Stripper |

PASTOR
GREGORY has been reassigned to the head pastoral position at
Greater Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. But after six
months of not being able to generate new members (and running
off some of the few that were there), his new parishioners
want him out, especially SISTER DOUGLAS, the Chair for the
Women's Auxiliary group. Now the offering is down and the
church is in need of some serious repairs to its main
building, otherwise Bethel may lose its charter. Gregory could
use a miracle.
One Sunday, sweet, innocent,
soprano-voiced Sister Wilma, does the unthinkable... takes off
her clothes... and right in the middle of her solo! Well
Pastor Gregory, believing it to be just a strange but isolated
incident turns the other cheek. After all, it did wake
everyone up in time for his sermon. But it happens again the
next Sunday. By now the women are disgusted, the men are
thrilled and Sister Douglas is outraged. But it's the long
awaited answer to Pastor Gregory's prayer as this
"Baptist Church turned Booty Club" is now busting at
the seams with new members.
Watch as all hell breaks loose when
MAYOR REMBOLDT and the local media gets wind of the good
Pastor's "pardoning of the parishioner's panty
pandering." The laughs will abound and the hallelujahs
will erupt when the whole town comes out to see The Sunday
Morning Stripper.
Inspired
by an event that took place during the Writer's childhood, the
script cradles a very poignant tale about a woman's desire to
worship in her own way and her Pastor's courage in allowing
her this liberty. Through the realization of this film, it is
our desire to not only entertain but to initiate cognitive
discussion as well. To this end, we hope to explore the
sometimes-blurred distinction between one's spirituality and
one's religion. At a time when people may be searching for
truth, we hope to illustrate an answer and offer a child-like
hope.
