Leslie
Alessandro first started taking pictures with her mother’s old
1950’s brownie camera when she was 9 years old. “It was a
dusty old thing that I was attracted to like a fly to the light”
she recalls. Her earlier photography was mostly composed of
pictures she took while on the beach and later, it graduated to
photos of architecture, scenic landscapes as well as people.
Ultimately, it would be people that would fascinate her the most
and destined her to begin a career in portraiture. “When I think
about growing up on both coast, I feel my photography style
represents the cultural essence of Brooklyn and Spanish Harlem,
yet the laid back ease of Los Angeles. Having traveled all over
the world to such locals as the Mayan region of Mexico, South
America, the Caribbean, North Africa, The Canary Islands, as well
as Southern and Eastern Europe, I believe it has blessed me to see
cultural differences as well as their individual way of life. I
also believe that it has given me a global perspective and in the
end, it has influenced me to look at people and capture them in
their truest light.”
Over the next couple of years, Leslie
would begin taking pictures of budding models, actors and
actresses who were seeking to get into the entertainment business.
Shortly thereafter, she found herself at red carpet events as well
as record release, television and film rap parties where she would
also provide coverage. The entertainment business is where Leslie
is most requested outside of shooting individuals who want great
photos. With her company Level 10 Photography, she understood from
the onset that she would have to grow with an ever changing
business. Now the company has the resources to provide web design,
graphics as well as videography, Professional text editing and
Bios. With all this on her plate, she is also a photojournalist
with SHOWCASE MAGAZINE, where she interviews artist and
photographs them for upcoming pieces. She is a writer, who is
penning two novels; she provides marketing consulting and has a
B.S. Degree in Marketing and Finance.
