The Honor Roll All Stars is a unique program
designed to spotlight and reward honor roll students in
underprivileged school districts across America. Students being
named to the Honor Roll All Stars have exemplified the
highest level of academic achievement by being on the honor
roll at the conclusion of all four grading periods within a
designated school year.
The inaugural event is a celebrity basketball game to
be held at Thornton Township HS in Harvey, IL as an official part
of Harvey Fest 2004. The event scheduled for July 2, 2004 is
endorsed by the Mayor’s office and the City of Harvey and will
kick off a two-week slate of events for the city.
Each honoree named to the Honor Roll All Stars
will receive free t-shirts, hats, certificates and VIP seating at
our celebrity basketball game. Along with these great gifts they
will also have an opportunity to meet our celebrity guest to take
pictures, collect autographs and other cool memorabilia. As an
added bonus each honoree is welcome to be a part of our Fourth of
July parade march and pic nic the following day where they will be
treated to refreshments, games, rides, performances and an all
around good time.
Our carefully selected list of celebrities will
consist of professional sports figures and entertainers. Joining
our celebrities will be local business people and pillars of the
community who feel that education is the true key to accomplishing
goals. The inclusion of non-athlete/entertainers is to send a
resounding message to our youth that success can be achieved in
whatever career path they choose to follow.
Proceeds from concessions at the Honor Roll All
Stars celebrity basketball game will go to the Boys and Girls
Club of Harvey. Donations will also be given to the Harvey Public
School Districts and The Harris Outreach Center for at risk youth
in the south suburban area.
After
the initial game in Harvey, IL the Honor Roll All Stars
will be looking to take the show on the road traveling to as many
far away places as your support will take it. During these travels
it is the intention of the program to produce a high quality DVD
and soundtrack that will be given away at next years slate of
celebrity basketball games.
The Honor Roll
All Stars DVD will be a documentary of our experience
promoting this program throughout the country. The cameras will
accompany our traveling teams on the bus, the hotels and the
locker rooms and capture any and everything you wanted to know,
and some things you might not. It will show first hand what its
really like to be on the road playing basketball. The DVD will
also spotlight the honor roll students and school districts that
we visit. We will go inside the classrooms and cafeterias to show
the conditions that these students are asked to excel in.
In addition to the
DVD the Honor Roll All Stars will also distribute a
soundtrack full of hype jams by some of today’s hottest Hip Hop
and R&B artist singing the virtues of higher education. The Honor
Roll All Stars DVD and soundtrack will become a must have for
any and everyone who is a fan of basketball and who loves higher
learning.
We are excited about the possibilities of everyone
across the country becoming a suporter of this remarkable event and we welcome
