Lunch

|
Although
hip-hop has become very mainstream, it still relies on the
“street warriors” to bring those special ingredients that
cannot be replicated in today’s cookie cutter music scene.
These are the same street warriors that bring freshness
to the genre while representing for a largely untapped and
unnoticed conglomerate. Lunch,
a hip-hop artist from California’s Inland Empire, is such a
warrior.
Bringing
a new vibe to the somewhat dormant west coast scene, Lunch is
the latest chieftain reppin the 909 area code.
He didn’t obtain his position in the game by luck or
chance, this street-bred lyricist has been putting it down
since 1992. Building
a name and fan base on the streets via mix shows, and live
performances. He gained notoriety with radio mix show jock’s
(Felli-Fel, Kool Aid, and DJ Hadyo), club promoters, and
producers on the local and national level.
As CEO
and one of the founding fathers of the Homeless Nation Record
label, Lunch released a previous project that sold over 50,000
units independently. His dedication to the game and work ethic is strictly on an
all or nothing basis.
The
company he’s managed to keep reads like a who’s who in the
music world. He’s
performed with the likes of KRS1, Xzibit, De La Soul, Big
Daddy Kane, Militia, Erykah Badu, Mad Lion, and Tha 5-Footahs,
just to name a few. He
has also laced some verses for Kurupt, Roscoe, KRS1, and
dropped some street sense on Dominoe’s new project.
WC even lent his magical skills on Lunch’s
remixed-single “Lunch Time.”
Despite
Lunch’s affiliation with these big names, he still manages
to keep his street appeal by continuing to work with unknown
underground artists. There
are too many to name, but he’s blessed the mic on 16 albums
circulating around the I.E. alone.
He feels that by being a bridge between the underground
and mainstream he will position himself to become the next
leader of the new generation of hip-hop.
Providing
a different aspect of west coast life, Lunch’s mix cd Reheated:
Tha Streetz Gonna Eat
It is guaranteed heat.
Produced by newcomers Fingazz, and Lunch himself, Reheated:
Tha Streetz Gonna Eat It builds upon a universal sound
that will transcend over state lines.
Cleverly choreographed and brimming with samples that
have been flipped and re-flipped Homeless style, Lunch invites
everyone to his underground party via DJ MIXMASTA K.D.
Lunch has recently released his third offering Homeless
Nation Mixtape featuring some of the HN family: Gambit,
J-walk, Mistress, Diamonique, Young A, Sage, and Ravon.
Currently
under the watchful eye of Swift Street Management Group
(shouts out to manager Terrance Korran), Lunch is ready for
the world. In the midst of all his projects he is in the lab
prepping for his next album.
He urges others to stay focused, find their niche, and
prepare themselves for the long journey ahead.
The
next movement in hip hop, Lunch is on a mission to represent
the Inland Empire and put it down like no one has done before. |
