Sometimes
a person can have that certain “je ne sais quoi” that with
little effort gets them noticed regardless of their status in the
world. In Hollywood
they call that the “it” factor, and after taking one look at
newcomer Colleen Porch, you realize that she’s got that vibe.
It’s not just because this mami of Irish and American
Indian descent is gorgeous and stunningly sexy, but because her
true beauty shines from within.
Her personality is warm and approachable, magnetic even,
and with stats like that you can’t even begin to imagine how
well that translates unto the big screen.
Currently set to star in Starship
Troopers 2; Colleen is quite comfortable in her skin granted
that she is replacing the character actress Denise Richard’s
once held down. Yet,
something tells me that this piece of information will be
irrelevant once the movie is released, because, well…without
even trying, Colleen somehow has a way of stealing the show.
“I have always had a love for acting,”
she fondly recalls of her days growing up in Bloomfield,
Connecticut. A very diverse community, Colleen was exposed to different
cultures and experiences in her hometown that allowed her to grow
as a person. It was
in high school that she opened herself up enough to perform in
various plays and through that began to plant the seeds that would
eventually lead to her destiny. But, before the acting bug totally invaded her system,
Colleen spent the majority of her time heavily involved in sports
(Track & Field) that in retrospect helped mentally prepare her
for the long journey she was about to face.
“It’s about discipline in sports.
You’re in the zone.
You think about what you are doing.
When I’m acting I need to be in the moment.
Sports gave me that discipline,” she concurs.
During high school she was recruited to run
track at Boston
College but that was short lived once
she pulled her Achilles tendon.
“Track was my life,” she laments.
Yet, determined to “keep it moving” she set her focus
back on her first true love; acting.
After college, she packed up her dreams in a suitcase and
headed for the Big Apple to enroll in the Strausberg School where
she absorbed the finer points of thespian-ism.
Thus, after much studying she managed to book her first
audition, but soon came face to face with the wear and tear of
rejection. “I have always been stubborn in that when things
don’t go as planned, I don’t give up.
I stick with it,” she expresses.
Well the “sticking with it” paid off as she landed plum
roles on CSI, Fast
Lane, Frozen Impact (made for T.V. movie), a preview episode of Charmed,
and the soon to be released Starship
Troopers 2. Oh,
did I forget to mention that the last two roles Colleen nabbed
were after only being in Los Angeles for three months.
Talk about being blessed!
While these experiences may have put other
people’s heads in the clouds, Colleen’s feet remain firmly
planted on the ground. “I
know that perseverance and endurance pays off.
When you make a goal, stick with it and always aim high,”
she advises. Living
and breathing that mantra is the good stuff that has fueled
Colleen’s drive from day one, enough so that she doesn’t put
all her eggs in one basket. “I’m
writing and directing a short film based on my friend and my
experiences in Hollywood,” she explains.
Never forgetting the encouragement of a high school
Creative Writing teacher, Colleen continued to hone her writing
skills in the midst of all her other extra-curricular activities.
In essence, she won’t just be acting out these stories;
she’ll be creating them and bringing them to life.
When it is all said and done Colleen looks
forward to promoting her new film which she promises won’t be
damned to sequel hell, exercising her writing abilities, and
immersing herself in more T.V and film roles that mean something,
rather then just earning a quick buck.
“All the roles that I have gotten are strong characters
and that has always been important to me,” she reflects. Beyond
all the rest of her goals she will continue reaching for the stars
and in the meantime keeping Hollywood and the rest of us under her
spell…effortlessly.
